Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show a the picture of Annie's family (New Headway, SsBk, U4, p 24) and ask the learners to guess who the people are and how they know each other.

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students read the text (New Headway, SsBk, U4, p 24) in Exercise-1. After they read they discuss about their guesses.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students do the "Exercise-2" (answering the questions about the text by using the target language) Students check their answers with their partners than WCFB

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Students do the "Exercise-3" individually and WCFB and discussion about the differences between the words in first and second line. Teacher shows the chart in presentation and (Jenny's / Jenny is) clarifies the meaning with visuals, examples and gestures. Then students read the text again and sts underline de possessive 's an circle 's=is. Sts come to the board write the examples from the text on the correct part of the chart. Teacher shows the form from presentation and drills.

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Sts do the "Exercise-4" (deletenig) indv. Peer check and WCFB.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students look at the picture (Wkbk p22) Teacher asks some questions. (Who's car is this? / Who's book is this? etc.) (The statements of the 1st exercise should be placed on the wall. (Exercise-5) Each statement should be divided into two pieces.) Students individually come and combine the fragments and stick the sentence on the right person's picture. WCFB

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students choose a classmate and write three sentence about her/his appearance using the possessive adjectives individually. They change their papers with their partners and try to guess whom the sentences are about.
