Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I review the previous lessons with the help of students.

Exposure (7-9 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students role play a conversation about two people who have met each other online and now are seeing each other in a restaurant. They are talking together about their lives, interests and routines.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I ask students to pay attention to the questions in the conversations. I help them realize some points about the grammar lesson by eliciting information from students.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I teach word order in questions with the help of students. And I make sure that they understand how to answer question with or without question words. In the end I try to teach them the differences in rhythm of questions with question words and questions without question words.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students go to page 129 and do the exercises in pair.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students work on a worksheet in pair. They have to order the words in some questions and make the correct form of the questions. Then They ask each other the questions and answer them with the information about themselves.

Free Practice (12-13 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students play a game with cards. In this game I will give some cards to each student. on each card, there is a word related to a question. Student drop their cards on the ground. They have to use the cards on the ground and the cards that they have in their hands to generate questions. In the end the student who makes more questions than others will be the winner and receive a reward.
