Ss will be exposed to a variety of vocabulary used to describe films, books and restaurants. Through listening (receptive skills), students will get more familiar to the vocabulary, and this will help them a lot at the last stage of the lesson when showing how well they can use them through a conversation( speaking).


Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of adjectives used to describe objects

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of films, books, and restaurants


Stage 1 (lead In) (4-7 minutes) • To set the context and help students guess what the lesson is all about

- Project pictures of the four items they will talk about in the lesson -have students get to know more about the pictures using some new expressions -discuss in pairs after mingling to better use those expressions

Stage 2 (Listening) (2-5 minutes) • To make sure students get familiar with the expressions

-give the students the handouts -students read part b number 1 for two minutes -listen to the recording and check in pairs -listen again if needed -check in pairs and get two sentences out of the recording

Stage 3 ( a mini-writing task) (3-5 minutes) • To kind of apply what they have learned ( vocabulary and expressions)

-give students blank sheets of paper -each student write a sentence using the expressions -fold the pieces of paper and throw them on the floor -students will pick up a piece and guess

Stage 4 (match vocab) (4-7 minutes) • To learn how to describe some nouns

-students match and work in pairs -check in pairs -do exercise 2 in pairs -after mingling, students check in pairs

Stage 5 ( pre-teach vocabulary) (3-5 minutes) • To introduce students to the vocabulary

-give students a paper that shows a cline -students work in pairs -WC FB

Stage 6 (clarifying ) (3-8 minutes) • To make students get the use of the vocabulary

-students do exercise 2 b in pairs -get FB though listening to the recording -clarifying the pronunciation and form

Stage 7 ( speaking) (5-10 minutes) • To produce the vocabulary in a receptive skill

- Pictures will be stuck up on the wall -two sentences will be written on the WB -students go around talking about pictures -if there is still time, students can discuss a question to see how much they get out of this lesson
