Main Aims

  • To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about celebrity pofile in the context of food

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of verb forms and questions in the context of food
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

show the picture and ask the students to talk about the questions in pairs nominate them to get feed back (2 or 3 students are enough )

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-divide the class in two groups -give them the vocabulary matching cutouts -give them time to match the vocabularies with their meaning -show the vocabularies on the board and ask different students to come to the board and match the words with their meaning.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-divide the class into 3 or 2 groups -set the time -ask the students to read the paragraphs and match the titles with them -show the text on the board -ask students to walk around the class and check other groups answers. -nominate one student to read the first paragraphs and then ask her/him to choose another students for the next answer -mingle the students again .

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

-mingle students again based on odd and even numbers give the second sets of questions (scanning) - ask the students to answer the questions in their new groups - get feedback

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-ask the students to open their books and underline the question words in 5a
