Bank robbers speaking

Description

In this lesson, students will get the opportunity to develop their productive skills speaking and writing. The lessons starts with a warm up activity composed of movie posters. After a lead in, students will have time for discussion followed by whole class feedback. Afterwards, students watch a short movie clip after which they have comprehension questions. Finally, there is a writing activity controlled by the teacher followed by role play and speaking.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Show a powerpoint presentation depicting posters of different robbery movies. -Ask if these posters have anything in common. -Give time for brainstorming in groups to come up with ideas about the posters. -Elicit some ideas and focus on the topic robbery, write the word in the middle of the board. -SS will be given two questions and answer them in pairs. -SS come to the board and write their answers around the word robbery. -Take whole class feedback.

Pre-teaching the vocabulary for listening and writing (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through writing/listening

-Draw a crossword puzzle on the board -Read the definitions of the words -Let them try to guess the words and write them on the puzzle -Once all the words are on the board, to conclude do choral drilling ( they are going to use the words later on )

Listening (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify understaning for coming productive tasks

-Give the instruction first clearly that they are going to watch two video clips and they have to watch them in detail. -Give the HO with the comprehension questions on it and let them read the questions first individually before they watch the video. -Open the video clips from the movie ''Pink Panther'' -While watching, they are expected to answer the comprehension questions. -Let them check the answers in groups. -Take feedback by eliciting answers from the groups

Productive Task(s) Writing (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-Give a clear instruction that SS are going to work in pairs on a dialogue - Give the SS a poster from the movie Bonnie and Clyde and dialogue HO -SS fill in the gaps in the dialogue first with their partners. -Let them write the continuing part of the dialogue using the vocabulary from the crossword puzzle. -If time, let some SS perform their dialogues to the class.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-Let the SS read or perform their dialogues and let the others try to notice mistakes
