To provide clarification of language used for describing a car accident in the context of conversation
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of short story
Procedure (37-45 minutes)
This is lead - in activity to activate the class at the start of the session and engage in the topic of the lesson which is ' car accident '. First,I will ask them some questions .Students will get more engaged with answering the questions which are related to their personal experiences. Questions: 1- Have you ever experienced car accident? 2-How did it happen? Then I will show them the picture about car accident and its causes and talk about them.
I will play a clip about car accident and different kinds of it.They will learn to describe a car accident and talk about its causes.After that we will talk about it like a short discussion.
There is an activity in their book I'm going to use it as a semi-controlled practice.It's a conversation exactly like the conversation in their book but it's not completed.They will fill in the blank and make a new conversation in pairs by using the new words.
At the end as a freer activity students will write a short story about a car accident in their new group and they have to use new words and sentences that they will be taught.Or they can describe their experiences about the topic.If they need I will play the clip again in order to taking note of its sentences or phrasal verbs and I will ask one of them to write them on the board.
