Description

In this lesson students are doing the jigsaw listening ;as a Pre- listenin they will learn vocabulary by matching the words to their definition. in while listening stage they listen to an audio about art and do the first activity (they listen for gist ) and answer the questions and then they listen again for detail in in 2 different groups do 2 different tasks. At the end 2 groups will discuss their answers.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show the pictures of modern art and ask if they know any of these works? ask them to talk in pairs about the discussion questions

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

give them the matching handouts give time for minutes ask them to check their answers in pairs nominate them for the answers they will come to the board and write their answers

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Activity 1 give them the first exercise ask them to read the instruction play the audio once only ( listening for gist) they will listen and answer the question ask them to check their answers with their partners

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Activity 2 divide the class into two groups give them 2 different hand outs ( purple and yellow) put the answers in front of their feet students in 2 groups will listen to an audio and will do two different tasks( jigsaw listening) play the audio one more time if it was needed they will check their answers with their partner ask them to turn over the answers for the feedback give them time to correct their mistakes

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

students find a partner from different groups. they report each other on their answers get feedback ask them to say what they remember from her/his partners speech about the given items
