Description

In this lesson,students will practice everyday coversations by acting out the example conversations in their books and they will also listen to the workbook's CD which related to the everday dialogues.Asking and answering the question ''How are you?'' and different responses to it will be learned by the end of the lesson.Listening and matching words activities will help students learn to start daily conversations.Students will learn different words for greeting and they will practice what body language to use in daily conversations.

Main Aims

  • The main aim of this lesson is to enable students to use English effectively for communication and to enable them to learn different words for greeting and starting daily conversations.

Subsidiary Aims

  • The subsidiary aim of this lesson is listening.They will listen to different daily conversations and different responses to the question ''How are you?''.The students will also listen to different conversations which will enable them to learn different words for everyday conversations.

Procedure

Stage 1 (2 minutes) • To introduce the lesson and to familiarise students with the question ''How are you?''

Asking students ''How are you?'' Modelling and drilling the answer ''Fine,thanks.And you?'' Asking some students the question ''How are you?''

Stage 2 (2 minutes) • To check if the students know the meaning of the words ''Hello,My name's,Very well,Thank you'' and to understand if they know the synonyms of these words such as ''Hi,I'm,Fine,Thanks.''

Using word cards and get students to match the words on the board with their alternatives.

Stage 3 (5 minutes) • To familiarise students with the different responses to the question ''How are you?''

By using the picture and word cards that were used in the previous activity get students to answer the question ''How are you?'' with different responses

Stage 4 (2 minutes) • To develop students' listening skills.

Students will listen to different daily conversations and they will be familiar with the different daily dialogues.

Stage 5 (15 minutes) • To provide a listening practice to complete the diaologues

Students will listen to different conversations between different people and after the second listening they will fill in the blanks and compare their answers in pairs.Then they will read their answers.

Stage 6 (5 minutes) • To get students to check what they have learned so far.

A matching activity-To match the pictures with the words which are in the workbook. To get students to participate in the class and see what they have learned so far.

Stage 7 (4 minutes) • To get students to work in pairs to improve their speaking skill to start a conversation.

Students will study the assigned dialogues in pairs to act out them.

Stage 8 (10 minutes) • To familiarise the students with daily dialogues and to provide them daily conversation vocabulary.

Students will act out the completion exercises in pairs to whole class.Different dialogues will be assigned to the students
