Things to Wear

Description

In this lesson, students learn about vocabulary on things to wear through exercises and tasks. The lesson starts with a a lead-in on a shopping mall and later focuses on vocabulary on things to wear. There is a free practice at the end of the lesson where students interact with each other and talk about what they are wearing.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will put a picture of a shopping plaza and elicit things that could be done in a shopping plaza. This will engage the Ss and prepare them for the vocabulary lesson which is on things to wear.

Controlled practice (5-7 minutes) • To test the Ss previous knowledge of body parts

T will instruct the Ss to match the correct word with the body part. This will be a test activity which will be linked with the things to wear in the later task. T will monitor and give FB. T will do hot error correction if necessary.

Controlled practice (5-7 minutes) • To introduce the vocabulary to things to wear in a matching activity

T will instruct the Ss to match the pictures with the vocabulary words related to things to wear. T will monitor. T will also allow Ss to come up to the WB and match the correct answer.

Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To allow Ss to broaden their understanding of the vocabulary

T will instruct Ss to another matching activity where Ss match the correct word of things to wear with where to actually wear it. T will monitor and give FB.

Clarification (4-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will pre-teach words related to things to wear such as wool, cotton, silk, leather, denim, gold and silver from pictures. T will model and drill the words.

Controlled practice (7-8 minutes) • To allow Ss to practice the TL

T will instruct Ss to ask each other what the people on the picture is wearing. For example: What is Peter wearing? Peter is wearing a green T-shirt, blue trousers and brown shoes. T will monitor and give FB & hot-error correction.

Free Practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will instruct Ss to find a pair and ask each other what they are wearing. This will allow Ss to acquire fluency in what they have learned. T will monitor and take notes on Ss mistakes and give FB and delayed error correction.
