Description

In this lesson Ss are going to be engaged in practicing some vocabulary and productive skill development which is speakeing by using the vocabulary which are prepositions of place to describe the positions of some items in a house.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of prepositions of place in the context of rooms and furniture.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a dialogue in the context of rooms and furniture.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

focus attention on the picture after displaying it on WB ask Ss Whose room is this? what kind of room is it? is there a bed in the picture? what else?

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Focus attention on the example. In pairs, students complete the sentences with the correct preposition form exercise one. Play the recording for the students for the students to check their answers. Focus attention on the speech bubbles. In pairs, students ask and answer questions about Robert's things. Allow them enough time before giving them feedback. Focus on the example. ask one of the students to close their eyes and ask them about a thing in the classroom. where's the computer? where's name's jacket? in pairs, students ask and answer questions about the things in the classroom.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Teach the vocabulary and check the students understand what they mean and how they should use them. Do drilling to make sure they pronounce the prepositions correctly in a sentenec. Use the board to highlight that prepositons come before the object.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Tell the students they are going to get two pictures with two different colours. have them know that the pictures are different and ask them to talk find the differences. have one of the students to come to the board and model the activity with them. Ask the students to carry out the activity. Allow them enough time before you give feedback.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

focus on the first questions. Ask the students to put the words in the correct order to make questions. in pairs, students carry out the task. give them answer key. ask them to ask and answer questions about their homes in pairs. allow them enough time before you give feedback.
