In this lesson students will be engaged in vocabulary building exercises, developed by listening for the gist and specific information .

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of compound adjectives which describes people in the context of hospital

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about Conversation between Sara,Micky and Beatrice's conversation . They are talking about Beatrice in the context of people characteristic
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in conversation in the context of hospital.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-show them the lead-in picture -students talk in pairs answer the questions Instruction: What do you see in this picture? now in pairs answer these questions.?

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Give the students the matching handouts and ask them to do the exercise and point out if they are positive or negative. Instruction: What are these? What are you going to do with them.? please match these cutouts. There are two sets of cutouts. First separate and then match them Feedback: show ex.1 picture on the board. students will come to the board and match words ; then they point out if the adjectives are positive or negative by writing p for positive and n for negative T check their answers and tell them for knowing the meaning of the words they have to wait for another hanout

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Students match the words with their definition, They will check their answers in their groups. T shows the handout on the borad They come to the board and write their answer on the broad. Teacher check their answers. CCQ : strong-willed: Do they give up easily? / Do they leave their dream easily? self-conscious: Are they confident?/ Do they think others are better than him? laid-back: Do people think they are lazy? / Are they always the last one to get ready? narrow-minded: Do they accept people’s expectations ? no Are they judgmental? yes what is the opposite of narrow-minded? open minded; are open minded people open to ideas? self-centered: DO THEY ignore the needs of others ? easy going: are they relax? do they get angry easily? big-headed: do they think they are more important than the others? bad-tempered: Are they patient? do they get mad over small things? absent-minded: Searching for your glasses while wearing your glasses.? do they Text someone to tell them that he can't find his phone? level-headed:. Do they see change as a necessary part of life.? Do they see failure as a learning experience? self-assured: Dont they take responsibility?Do they have a purpose ? Teach the pronunciation? teach the pronunciation by drilling

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Students in-pairs do the exercise they check their answers in group they come to the broad and write their answers on the borad. teacher check their answrs

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-student look at the picture and talk about it -They will read the questions -Teacher will play the audio -They listen and answer questions 1/3/5 - Teacher will check their answers students in pairs talk about the questions in ex 4 c
