Description

In this lesson, ss learn and practice future forms to describe plans and learn vocabulary related to communication in the context of teenagers. The lesson starts with leading the ss to brainstorm about the idea of teenagers. The ss do the exercises in different interaction patterns. At the end, they disscuss in small groups the question given.

Main Aims

  • To provide a better understanding of communication problems in between teenagers by asking the students to read a text about teenagers utilizing scan and deduction method.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice by learning in new vocab items in the context of teenager communication.

Procedure

Stage 1 ( Warmer) (2-3 minutes) • To create an image of a teenager and a mother relationship in ss mind

-T nominates 2 ss to make a roleplay. - The ss who are chosen read the text given.

Stage 2 (Discussion About Teenagers) (5-7 minutes) • To lead the ss think about what kind of problems the teenagers might have

-T projects picture of teenager and T writes the word 'teenager'. -Ss work in pairs to brainstorm ideas of what teenager is and what characteristics they have. (WC,FB) - T gives the HO's. -Ss read the question in ex. 1 and discuss in pairs. - T divides the board into 2 parts and writes ideas on board.

Stage 3 (Think And Discuss) (6-8 minutes) • To provide ss to think and discuss about the idea of teenager

-T projects picture of teenager. -Ss look at picture and the title. T elicits what's happening in the picture. -T pre-teaches the new vocab and T drills. -Ss read the text and discuss in pairs about the problems were mentioned. -T gets the FB and ticks the ideas on the board from ex. 1

Stage 4 (Gap-Filling Activity) (5-7 minutes) • To lead the ss to complete the gaps through the text

-Ss work alone to complete the summary in ex.2 -T checks the answers in pairs. -Tprojects the text on the board and T nominates Ss to come to the board the complete the summary.

Stage 5 (T/F Statements) (10-11 minutes) • To provide Ss to correlate the text and the statements in order to do the T/F exercise

-T nominates 5 Ss for T/F Qs but she does not confirm the right answers. -T asks the Ss to read the text again to answer the Qs. -T tell the Ss to check the answers in pairs. -T monitors and helps the weaker Ss. -In WC T nominates Ss to come to board and answer Qs and also T highlights in the text where they found the answer.

Stage 6 (Matching Meanings) (4-5 minutes) • To teach phrases through meaning match

-T demonstrates first sentence as an example. -T tells Ss to work alone and then check the answers in pairs. -T drills phrases before writing them on the board.

Stage 7 (Small Group Discussion) (3-4 minutes) • To practise using relevant information and language

-T tell the Ss discuss Qs 3 in small groups. -T monitors and supports.
