Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks SS what animals can you find in a zoo ? Do you like visiting zoos? why/ Why ?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T asks SS to look at the pictures and try to guess what will happen without reading. T collect answers and ask them who is Binti ? T asks students to read quickly and find out who is Binti ? T check answers T Pre-teach these words before reading for details ( enclosure, Cage ) Pictures provided Ex.3 SS read for details SS answer the question SS check in pairs T check answers Skip Ex.4,5,6 and Go to P 97

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

At this point student are familiar with the topic and the words that they might face T asks student to look at the picture and guess what is happening ? Elicit its a radio interview with Gary ask students What animal helper does Gary have ? what's its name? students listen for gist check answers in pairs T check answers T ask student now you will listen again and are these sentences true or False Before listening ask student to read the sentences first SS listen and check their answer in pairs T class check

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T asks student What animals do people have in your family ? Share your ideas with your partner. T elicit ideas and board them T on the board add these to the words on the board or any other animals they might be intersected in (Ex. Dog, Cow, Monkey) ask student to work in pairs and answer these questions Board some of these question and print the handout ( provided ) 1. whats the most useful animal? Why? 2 what is your favourite animal? Why? 3. Which animal would like to have in the future? Why?
