Description

In this lesson,ss will learn how to give and respond to advice. They will watch a video that will present the target language. This will be followed by the ECDW rule. Ss then will do some controlled practice to stress the use of the target language.

Abc HO#1 ordering ex. HO#2 Writing ex. HO#3 Answer checking paper

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of language used for giving and responding to advice in the context of what's the matter?

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation about different real situations in the context of what's the matter?

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

look at the picture and think about what the two people in the pic. are talking about? Ss work in pairs T. does not confirm any answer.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-You are going to watch a video. You will see 2 girls talking. The first one has a problem. Watch and tell me what problem did the 1st girl have? -How many people are in the video?(2) -Which one has a problem?(the 1st one) -And you are going to watch to know about the.......(problem) WCFB

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I want you to listen to the two girls' conversation again and put the conversation in the correct order. SS check in pairs. WCFB -Now turn your papers down.- what's the 2nd girl trying to do?(Give advice) -Did the first girl know exactly what she'll do?(No.That's why she needs help) -What sentences did 2nd girl use? Go to the next stage

Clarification (4-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Controlled Practice (2-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

HO#2 Ss use the prompts to write 2 conversations Ss work in groups to write down two conversations. Printed paper for checking.

Free Practice (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-On the wall you have some pictures, in the pictures, there is someone who has a problem. I want one of you to play the role of the one who has the problem and the rest of the group will suggest ideas to help him. Don't forget 3 things : 1- state the problem 2- give two pieces of advice using different ways. 3- respond to the advice. T. gives feedback (content and language if found)
