In this lesson, students focus on a reading task as it is the main aim of the lesson. they would be provided with a gist reading task and reading for detailed task.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about A bad day in the context of a reading text about job interview

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification in the context of a reading text about job interview


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T shows some pictures and asks some questions about the picture what do you think of the picture? -ss talk PW -T gets a WC FB - T elicits the word " interview and interviewer"

Pre-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-T tells ss they are going to read a text about Job interview -T shows some pictures by projector -T preteaches some vocabs and elicits them from ss -T asks the ss what they think the text is about -T asks the ss to talk PW - T gets WC FB

While-Reading #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist reading tasks

- T shows Ho1 -T tells the ss they have to put different paragraghs of the text in order -T passes out Ho1 - Ss check PW -T nominates ss to get FB

While-Reading #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed reading tasks

-T shows Ho2 to ss -T tells the ss that they are going to decide which sentences are true or false -T passes out Ho2 -SS do the true/false questions -Ss check PW -ss come to WB and write the answer -T gives WC FB

Post-Reading (15-20 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- T tells ss that they are going to talk about a bad day -T shows some tips about a bad day by projector Talk about a bad day in your life. 1. When was it? 2. Where was it? 3. Why was it a bad day? - T models the task - ss talk pw - T monitors and takes notes - T gets wC FB -T sets 2 groups -Ss form froups around the class -T monitors and takes notes -T does error-correction
