Description

In this lesson, Ss learn about some vocabulary related to places in the towns, they will use these vocabulary in different exercises about different towns. Then, they will listen to records about people talking about their cities to match the words they learn with the speakers' names. Finally they will discuss in small group which cities the like the most.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask the Ss what are their favorite cities inside and outside Egypt and why they like it?

Test #1 (3-5 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

-I 'll ask the Ss to match the words in the box in ex. "1" with the pictures. -I'll monitor while answering. -I'll give the Ss sometime to check their answers in pairs.

Teach (4-6 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

I will clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the difficult words that the Ss face through the previous ex.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

-I'll ask the students to listen to the recording then write the number of each speaker next to the word in the box -that they learnt about. -I'll monitor while answering. -Then I'll ask them to check their answers in pairs then I'll check the answers with the whole class

Free practice (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-I'll ask the Ss to discuss in small groups which one of the five cities they like the most and why, and to describe a town they like very much. -I'll monitor while speaking.
