Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows a picture of a girl "Ala" on holiday. Elicit the word "holiday " by asking Where is she? Is she at home? Elicit the word holiday. If the SS don't say the word T writes the first letter "h"------. (a day fixed by law or custom on which ordinary business is suspended in commemoration of some event or in honour of some person.) T asks, Do you go on holiday? What do you do? Speak to your partner about your last holiday for 1 minute. Get WC FB from a few SS.

Pre-teach king words (4-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T shows a picture of Taj mahal. T asks, What that is? If they say/if they dont say write it on the right hand side of the board. This is "Taj Mahal".(It's a mausoleum) It's in Agra. "Agra". is a city.T writes it on the board.(If there is confusion in their faces I compare with Blue mosque). T elicits the word "fantastic" It's extremely good and we say "fantastic".(Taj Mahal is fantastic). what else is fantastic? T elicit the word "tourists" by showing pictures of tourist. (someone who is visiting a place for pleasure on holiday) T asks "who are they"? They visits different places on holiday. They are "tourists". where else do you get informations apart from google to find out about interesting places. (a book that gives information for visitors about a place, such as a city or historical places.) Tourists usually get information from a small book. Do you know the name of it? Its "guide book". T shows a picture of a crowded market and elicit the words"market and crowded". (crowded: full of people) (market: is a place where people might want to buy something or a part of the world where something is sold: Show a picture of "Anatolia museum". write the word national museum. (a building where objects of historical, scientific, or artistic interests are kept) "Typical Indian dish" Probably curry, a meat curry. compare with Turkish typical dish kebab. "Chai" is popular in India. It is common to most countries. (a type of drink, made originally in India, consisting of tea made with spices and usually with milk and sugar added).

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Reading for gist: T chests the reading text and points to it. "This is an email" Read this email for 2 minutes. HO the question sheet. Demo. There are 3 answers. You choose only one answer. CCQ How many answers do you choose? one Pair check. check with your partner. WC FB on WB. Write or mark the answers on the board.

Reading for detail. (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T asks the SS to read the email again. T chests HO and ask them to select True(T) or false(F). T demonstrates one answer for them on the board( OHP). Give 5 minutes to do the task. Pair check. Get WC FB. Mark the answers on the board.

Post-Reading- Speaking (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T models a prompt. I was on holiday last month. I ate kofte. I drank Ayran. I saw a stone bridge and a stone house there. Guess where I went. I went to Edirne. .............. T HO the prompt ask them to write. Now you write about your own holiday. After they finish, ask them to come to the board and ask their friend to guess their last holiday. Invite everyone to the board and let them mingle and find out what others have written.mingle and speak with other SS. Get WC FB
