In this lesson students will learn the functions of the present perfect simple tense in the context of people's achievements.

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson students will be able to use the present perfect simple tense with all its functions .Students will be able to differentiate between the past simple tense and the present perfect in their usages and form.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a role-play in the context of life experience

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Show students pictures about some famous people. Ask Ss. What do those people have in common ? -Specific task . Ask students to read the text quickly and list the achievements that the twins have made.

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

-Ask students to do exercise (b) : -First they will choose the correct answer. -Then they will listen to track(4.1) and check their answers. -peer correction. -open feedback.

Language analysis (7-8 minutes) • Highlight the TL ,Clarify Meaning,Form and pronouciation

-Highlight the TL.(meaning) -Ask CCQs . They've been T.V. stars all their life. Did they start to be stars in the past? Yes. Are they stars till now? Yes. -Drill orally -Write stentences and clarify (Form ).

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

Controlled practice: Ask students to do exercises (1 p.38,2b p.39) -Demo,One s do one exercise,Ind,peer checking,open feedback. Ask student to listen to track 4.2 and match the dialogues with the pictures Free practice Exercice s p.39 Speaking about life experiences Demo,Open pair,closed pair ,open feedback.
