In this lesson ss learn about the future verb forms used for future plans, within the context of summer holidays.The lesson starts with a discussion about dream holidays,followed by an exercise to test their current understanding about the future verb forms and identify any gaps in vocabulary.Then there will be a teaching stage on the correct use of the future verb forms.This is followed by a second test exercise where ss choose the correct verb forms in the conversation.Finally there's some freer practice where ss will do a role play about different people in a hotel with different plans and intentions.

Main Aims

  • To provıde grammar practice by using the future verb forms;will+inf.,be going to+inf. and present continuous within the context ofsummer holidays.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide speaking practice by using the future verb forms within the context of summer holidays.


Warmer (5-6 minutes) • To generate interest and provide free speaking practice within the context of dream holidays

I will tell ss to speak to their partner about their dream holiday.I will give an example from myself ;telling them that my dream holiday destination is India because I want to know about the culture .I will tell ss to ask their partner why they want to go there and for feedback I'll ask a few ss to speak about their partner's dream holiday.

First Test(diagnostic) (5-6 minutes) • To test ss' current understanding of the future verb forms to use for future plans.And to identify gaps in vocabulary related to future plans.

I will give them a folded HO with exercise 1 to underline which verbs are the correct forms to describe an intention,suggests that no definite plans have been made yet and suggests that a firm arrangement has been made.

Teach(clarifying) (15-16 minutes) • To deal with meaning,pronunciation and form of usage of the future verb plans within the context of future plans

I will group ss in 3-4 and give each group 6 cut outs to match which verb form is the most appropriate for which description(intention?,plans made?or no plans made.)Then I will ask ss to go around and check other group's answers.Then I will clarify on board which verb forms are used for which cases by writing 3 sentences ,but I will first try and elicit from ss. ı In this stage I will group ss in 3-4 and give each group 6 cut outs,3 with future verb forms and 3 with descriptions on where to use them.I will ask ss to work ın their groups and match each verb form with each description.Then I will ask them to check other groups' anwers.I will then clarify by writing on the board 3 example sentences,but ı will first elicit from ss before writing thr correct verb forms for each sentence.

Second Test (Controlled practice) (6-7 minutes) • To provide controlled practice of the future verb forms

I will ask ss to chose the best verb forms to complete the conversation on the HO in pairs.And get WC feedback by going over each sentence.

Freeer Speaking practice (5-6 minutes) • To provide freer speaking practice by roleplaying within the context of holidays

I will give each student a number;1,2,3 and then give each one a role: 1:on holiday with a group of friends 2:on bussiness trip 3:on holiday alone I will tell ss to imagine it's their first day in a hotel and they meet new people at breakfast ,I will tell them to ask eachother questions about their plans for the day.

Feedback (4-5 minutes) • To provide fb on use of target language,to deal with errors

I will ask a few ss what their friends' plans are for the day and then do some error correction
