Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a film review in the context of movies

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about film review( The Hunger Games) in the context of movies

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll ask students (What's your favourite film? Why do you like it?) I'll tell them to work in pairs and do a preparation practice by giving them nine words to put in the correct group (types of film,people in the film,or words to describe films)

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I'll tell the students before giving them the text that this Marta's film review about (The Hunger Games),then I'll ask them (Does Marta like the film or not?) give them just 1 minute to find the answer.finally, I'll give them a multiple choice practice to check their understanding for the text , check their answer in pairs,and give them written feedback.

Genre analysis (5 minutes) • To develop LS writing skill by drawing their attention to features of the genre(content and language)

I'll ask students to work in pairs to circle fact or opinion for sentences from the text to help students know how to express their opinion ,and how to tell facts.

Productive Task(s) (12-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I'll ask students to write a film review as Marta's about any film they want to motivate them to write , and I'll tell them the tips of writing: 1- start with the film's title . 2-The type of film.When was it made. 3-Explain the film's story but don't explain the ending! 4-Your opinion of the film. 5-Should people go and watch the film?

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

during monitoring I'll take notes of errors ,and in the end of the class I'll ask them to correct them,if they cannot I'll correct them .
