Traditional dishes

Description

In this lesson the Ss will know about some traditional dishes in some countries through a reading text. They also will practice listening about some dishes from different places and the main ingredients of them through an audio track. Then they will practice speaking about the most traditional dishes in their country and their favorite dish.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll ask the Ss what is their favorite dish?, what is the most traditional dish in their country? and what traditional dishes of other countries they would like to try?

Pre-Reading/Listening (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'll give the Ss handouts and ask them to look at the pictures and then answer the questions in ex. "1" in pairs.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I'll ask the Ss to read the passage carefully to answer the following exercises. Then I'll ask them to answer ex "3" individually, then to check their answers in pairs. Then I'll ask them to match the highlighted words in the passage with their meaning in ex. "4" individually, then to check their answers in pairs. I'll monitor during answering and give feedback if needed.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I'll ask the Ss to read the words and sentences in ex. "5" first before listening to the audio track. I'll ask the Ss to listen to the recording and complete the sentences in ex. "5" individually, then to check their answers in pairs. I'll ask the Ss to listen again to the audio and answer ex. "6" individually, then to check their answers in pairs. I'll monitor while answering and give feedback if needed.

Post-Reading/Listening (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
