Having already been taught The Present Perfect Simple, the students are going to work on the speaking skill.The lesson is going to start with a pair- work speaking ,following by some games and other activities that encourage students to use the tense they have already learned.


Abc Gap-fill, making questions and answers handouts

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of life experinces(usage of present perfect simple)

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of present perfect simple in the context of music,life experiences


Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I am going to pre-teach some vocabulary that might be difficult for them like instrument and ballet. After that I am going to ask a question like have you ever learned a musical instrument? as a model. Then task 9 will be given to them and they have make questions and answer them.

preparing to speak (7-9 minutes) • To generate/provide ideas to speak

In this stage a gap-fill task (WB exercise 4)will be given to students. They need to do it seperately and after that the answers will be checked for the whole group.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To provide and clarify language which learners may find useful for completing the speaking task

At this point I am going to change their seats and ask them to find themselves a new partner. Two different handouts are going to be given to them for role-playing .One student willbe the singer and the other one will be the interviewer. At first they need to work on their own , making their own questions and answers and after that they start role-playing

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • For learners to practice their oral fluency in relation to present perfect simple

Again the seats will be changed and students will be divided into 3 or4 groups having 3/4 different handouts related to the former task music, again they are going to role play but this time they are given the present perfect sentences and they will focus on questions and past simple.At the end they can check the answers together.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Ask them to write 3 different things that they have not done but would like to do and then put it in a plastic bag ,one student will suffle the sentences,chooses one and reads it.The others need to guess who wrote it.
