Main Aims

  • To provide ss practice in listening and reading for detailed and specific information using a text about losing phone in the context of a love story

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice of subject pronouns, object pronouns and possessive adjectives in the context of a phone call

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-have the OHP ready to use in different stages of lesson -show the pictures of previous lesson (OHP) to have a link to the previous lesson -ask some questions to get ss interested in the topic Which story do you like the best? Which story do you like to know about? Do you remember what is the story of Sally's Phone about? What kind of story is it?

Pre-Reading/Listening #1 (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-show a picture of characters by OHP -introduce the characters -CCQ to check that ss understood the characters -PW -give instructions for HO1 -ICQ -pass out HO1 -ss read the questions and predict the answers -ss check their answers in PW

While-Reading/Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-ss listen to the story for specific information -ss answer the questions -ss check their answers in PW -pass out the answer key in HO2 -give instructions for HO3 -pass out HO3 -ss match the vocabulary with pictures -ss check in PW -ss give WB FB

Pre-Reading/Listening #2 (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-GW -show the picture of rest of story by OHP -ask skim listening questions What is happening in the rest of story? Are Paul and Sally having any problems? Why? -ss discuss in GW -take WC FB

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

-ss skim listen to the rest of story -ss discuss the problem in the story in GW -WC FB -give instructions for HO4 -model -pass out HO4 -ss find the reference of pronouns -ss check in GW -ss give WB FB

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
