Description

In this lesson Ss will focus on receptive skill of reading and sub aim is vocabulary . in this lesson Ss will learn about ways of communication . now and in the past how these ways help us to communicate with others. We are here in Egypt ,in Damitta we can send e-mails and other things immediately to some one in America .but all ways are useful all the time for all ages . I will start the lesson with simple task .some photos to ways of communication .ASK ss to put them in order from the oldest to the newest? Then I will ask them to compare the answer in pairs . Then I will ask them to read the text and check the answers. After that I will ask them to read questions and guess the answers in pairs.and read again for more information and answer the questions again They check their answers in pairs ,at the end I will give them some sentences in some pronouns in bold ;ask them to tell me what does it refer to at the end I will make them work in small groups to discuss do you ever receive annoying e-mail\phone calls\letters? How do you deal with it?

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will welcome the learners ,and ask them how do you know about this course? when? how you communicate with the center ? -on net? On facebook ?by mobile phone ? Without this means of communication how will life be? We are talking to day about means of communication ? Does our life become easier or not ?do you think people send e –mails or text messages?what about forgetting your mobile for just one day? How do you contact with your friends\family?

Pre-Reading/ (4-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will give Ss some photos about ways of communications and ask them to put them in order .from past to present . Some vocabulary like e- mail \the typewriter\the telephone\the fax machine\the text message? Or I will give some photos to students and ask them what is it ? They will answer I will elicit the right word from them ? Ask SS to repeat after me . Ask s to repeat ater me.

While-Reading/ (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will give the ss some questions about \ How did people deliver letters in Ancient Egypt? How much did the first stamp cost? When did the first fax machine appear? When was the the first text ?message? I will let them discuss these questions in pairs . I will let them read the text ,to find information and check their ideas After reading I will ask them to answer the question again Check in pairs And feeding back with me .

While-Reading/ (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I will ask ss to read again and tell me what do the pronnouns in bold refer to ? I will give them a note about some sentences ask them to write what the pronouns in bold refer to? I will answer the first one . with them let them complete the task / Check in pairs \check with me .

Post-Reading/L (2-4 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

ss will discuss in groups which information in the text did you find most surprising ?
