Procedure

Stage 1(Lead in) (5-7 minutes) • To set the context for the vocabulary lesson with a short story followed by a short speaking activity

- I will start by a story about how I wanted to hang out with my friends but I had such a busy schedule and will name different days of the week and will write them on the board - We will do some choral repetition to learn the correct pronunciation of each word - I will put the students in pairs and will ask them to answer the questions "what day is today?" What day is tomorrow?"

stage 2(Practicing days of the week) (6-9 minutes) • To practice the spelling of days of the week

- The recording will be played and they will write days of the week activity b - They will check the correct spellings in pairs before a whole class feedback - Activity c will be assigned - Pair check and WC FB

Stage 3(Presenting vocabulary) (15-18 minutes) • To teach them which preposition of time to use with different expressions

- I will write AT/ IN/ ON on the WB and will explain that they will have to pick one for each of the handouts - The first one will be with ON - They choose it and check and read it to each other in pairs - I will explain them one by one, divide the board into 3 columns and write examples of each under each prepositions - The same process will be repeated with two other paragraphs

Stage 4 (Practicing vocabulary) (5-8 minutes) • To make sure they understood prepositions of time

- A handout will be given out with fill in the gaps activity this time they have to use what they learned and the board to use the correct prepositions - The answers will be checked in pairs - WC FB

Stage 5 (if time: Board rush) (7-9 minutes) • To practice the prepositions in a fun activity and help them fixate the knowledge the just gained

- I will write the expressions in 3a and 3b form the course book along with some other words on the board - I will put the Ss in two groups - I will say a preposition and they will have to find and expression which has to be followed by that and write the prepositions next to it - Then the next student from each group will continue the activity

Stage 6 (freer practice) (7-9 minutes) • To use the prepositions of time and produce language in th context of " when are you free?"

- I will give them the instructions and as an example I will play recording 57 and write some of the sentences on the board as model sentences for the students to use... - The handouts will be distributed and they will do the activity in pairs -WH FB

Stage 7(Personalization) (10-15 minutes) • To produce the language learned in a personalized context

- I will give them templates of schedules and will ask them to write some pieces of information about what they do and when they are free throughout the week. - I have them mingle and find people who they can meet during the week. Finding them using sentences similar to the ones in the previous activity - Whole class feedback
