Description

In this lesson, ss learn about how to speak and express themselves in the context of things they can't live without.First, they will be asked to mention one or two things they can't live without. Then, they will be exposed to useful language through a listening task. Finally, they will be asked to prepare themselves making use of language already presented to speak up about things they'd hate to be without.

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson , ss will have practised speaking in the context of things they'd hate to live without..

Subsidiary Aims

  • By thr end of this lesson, ss will have practised listening for gist (objects) and for detailed information(useful language) in the context of things you'd hate to be without.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To introduce the context of the lesson and engage ss.

T. carries her laptop asking ss what's this?(Laptop) Yea it's my laptop and it's very very important to me. Can u please tell me why it is important to me? -SS work in a group to think of possible answers. T. elicits as many answers as she can. T.shows ss some pics. in their papers. T. elicits the names of these objects. Which one of them is the most important to you? If they choose, it's ok. If not, think about one thing that is very very important to you and tell your partner why. T.checks answer.

Exposure/Preparation (4-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

Listening#1 You are going to listen to people talking about things that are very very important to them. Listen and just write the name of the object. Icq-Are you going to write full sentences or only one or two words?(One or two words) -which is/are .....?(the name of the object. WCFB Listening#2 This time listen and complete the table about :1-how the speaker describes the object and 2-why it is important to him. Ss check in pairs. WCFB

Useful Language (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Referring to the previous stage: T.asks- What did the speaker say to express that his mobile phone is the most important object for him?- Can you remember? What did he tell us next?(He started to describe it .) -And then?(He said why it is important for him. There are many expressions - as you listened to in the recording- to do the same. T. gives ss handouts to put each sentence under the correct heading. Ss work in a group of 3s. WCFB Drilling CCQs

Productive Task (5-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

In 2 minutes write a list of 2 or 3 objects you'd hate to live without. Discuss in your group that object, describe it and say why it is important to you. Icqs : How many objects are you going to mention?(2 or 3) What else should you speak about ?(a description) And then?(say why it's important.) T.mointors and takes notes.

Feedback and Error Correction (2-3 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T. writes -if time allows- or can say orally wrong sentences for ss to correct. T. elicits their suggestion.and helps when it blocks.
