Buying and selling, comparative adjectives.

Description

In this lesson, Ss learn about comparative adjectives through several exercises. The lesson starts with asking Ss if they have got a car, and why they like it, and I will notice the adjectives they use while answering these questions. Then they will go through some exercises to practice using comparative adjectives. Through these exercises, I will explain any difficult words for them.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll ask the Ss if they have a car, what is its color? And why do the like it?. and what car they would like to buy and why?

Test #1 (3-5 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

-I'll ask the students to match the adjectives in ex. "1a" with their opposite in "ex. 1b"individually then I'll check the answers with them. I'll monitor and give feedback if needed. -I'll ask the Ss to look at the picture and read the information given on it . then to answer "ex.3" -I'll monitor while answering then i'll check answers with the whole class.

Teach (8-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

-I'll clarify the form of comparative adjectives, the difference between the forms of one syllable adjectives "such as: old---older, tall------taller" ,two syllables adjectives "such as: easy----easier' , three syllable adjectives "such as: expensive-----more expensive" and also the irregular comparative adjectives "such as: good---better, bad----worse".

Test #2 (3-6 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

-I'll ask the students to answer questions of ex. "practice 1", but first I'll answer the first one for them. -I'll monitor while answering and give feedback if needed. -I'll ask the Ss to check their answers in pairs, then I'll check the answers with the whole class.

Free practice (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-I'll ask the Ss to read the example shown n ex. "practice 2" and talk about the other products in the exercise in the same way in pairs. -i'll monitor and give feedback if needed.
