Description

SS will be introduced to a topic about politicians and some of their deadly mistakes. First, SS will be engaged in S focused vocabulary exercise. Then reading exercise with two texts. The texts are about two politicians who made mistakes during their political campaign and as a consequence, they lost their reputation and their image in people's minds. Followed up by some speaking questions about what "Should have done" to save the situation with a little bit of highlighting of a grammar concept.

Main Aims

  • To provide a specific information and detailed reading practice from two texts includes a set of vocabulary such as squirmed, blush and conscious.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed about embarrassing mistakes that made by prominent politicians

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will play the first 2 minutes of a video about different politicians from different countries in embarrassing moments. Then ask the students about their opinions. Quick discussion as a warm up.

Pre-Reading/ vocabulary/ put in order/ Speaking in pairs (13-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1- HO 1, SS will complete the sentences with a word from the box. 7 sentences with 7 vocabs. - Peer check. -Feedback WC 2- Put the situations in ex1 in order of embarrassment. 3- Speaking practice in pairs. Do you know any other stories embarrassing experiences?

While-Reading/Gist reading (14-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

- SS work in pairs to answer the question: Do you know of an embarrassing mistake made by a prominent politician? - SS read the two texts and figure out what mistakes did these two men make?

Reading/scanning for details and answer the questions (7-8 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

- HO2 ,Ss will read the 2 stories then complete the sentences with (G) Gloystein or (P) Prescott. -PW check - WC Feedback

Post-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-SS work in pairs to discuss some questions. WC discussion untill the end of the lesson
