Description

In this lesson , students practice the use of the simple present through a guided reading about Music festivals in Britain.

Main Aims

  • To provide process in the context of Popular traditional festivals

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency in speaking practice in the context of Popular traditional festivals
  • To provide clarification of Musical vocabulary in the context of festivals

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask the students about the different things we have already seen in the Unit, review the vocabulary of Music and musical instrument. Ask ST if they know the names of any popular international festivals or if they have been to any. T will then introduce the text page 24

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T ask the students to read the text silently before we have a collective reading, afterwards T asks the students general comprehension questions about the text( the main idea,the time, the place, the different activities in the festival) The aim is to encourage STs to participate orally in the classs, students will later on compare their answers with one another in a group discussion.

Useful Language (5-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

we later on move on to explaing the difficult or new words in the text by trying to guess their meaning from the context in order to be able to use them effectively later on in the productive writing

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

After explaining the vocabulary and the different elements of the text , STs will be asked to write a small paragraph following the same structure to talk about a famous festival in another country ( wether their mother country or a foreign country)

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

students will in the final stage read their writings in order for their friends to correct them if there is any mistake. Also the Teacher will write down the list of the recurrent mistakes in order to avoid them in upcoming tasks.
