Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a Paragraph in the context of Popular Music festivals

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of Present simple
  • To provide review of adjectives of opinion

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Review what we have seen in the previous lessons about the theme of music and the instruments, ask the students if they have ever seen their favorite bands perform in a festival

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

explain the idea of fesitval and Music shows , Introduce the text " Music in Britain" . Ask the students to took at the Pictures and try to guess the main idea of the text.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

After a first reading of the text , I ask the students to answer the following questions : What is the idea of the text? What is the Name of the music Festival in Wales? Where does it take place? What do they do in this festival? What is the title of the event in Edinghburgh What are the bagpipes?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Are theses events popular ? Do people enjoy them or not ? can you justify your answer from the text ? How frequently/ How many times do they have this music event ? what are the words used to justify your answer Circle all the verbs in the text ; in what tense are the verbs ? why?

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

now, what are the different information used in the text to talk about the fasival ? after having numerated the different information ( Names of festival / Place/ Time/activities/) students will use these indicators to write about a popular festival in their country.
