Procedure

Warm-up (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T.welcomes ss and starts to pick up some and start the following chat: S1: Do you work?-Yes-what time do you go to work?.No. Are you still astudent?-when do you go to university? S2:Where do you live?-Do you live in a flat or a house? -In a flat. Good. On which floor? -On the ..... . Or in A house. Do you have a garden around your house?-Yes. NO. Good. S3:DO you have children? Do they go to school? What time do they usually go to school? S4: What do you do in your weekend? -Reading-going to gym, sleeping, watching TV,etc T. Good .Do all people in Egypt...........(choose one of the above) at the weekend? Ss. No T. What about people in Australia?i.e if we travelled in Australia,how would their life be?

Pre-Teach vocab. (3-5 minutes) • To deal with any blocking vocab. to help ss better understand listening in the coming stages.

T. shows ss some pictures. Ss work in groups to identify the names of things or places . T. asks ICQs .Are you going to work alone?-No. In groups. Are you going to write any thing? -No. Just discussing. T. demonstrates. Let's do the first one together. pic.1 what do you think we call this in English? S s- A house . Right . Go on.

listening for gist (3-5 minutes) • To enable ss to gain general understanding of the text.

T. plays the record telling ss that they are going to listen to a conversation between man and a woman talking about life in Australia . Listen and check if they talked about one or more of these things. (T. points to vocab. on the board). We are not sure?.T . puts a (?) in front of each. Work in groups. Listen and if u heard a word of them , tick it on your paper.-T.hands ss some paper out CCQs. Are you going to work alone? -No. Are you going to listen only? -N0. Listen and tick. . Right .Listen. T. monitors. Whole class feedback.

listening for details#1 (3-5 minutes) • To give students deeper understanding of the text.

T. hands out strips of paper to put them in order. Ss are asked to see what they can remember. Ss work a lone. T. monitors. Ss check their answers in pairs. WCFB but T. doesnot confirm answers. Ss listen again to check their answers. Peer check. WCFB

listening for details#2 (3-5 minutes) • To practise answering questions need more detailed information

T. gives hand outs to put a tick next to every correct sentence. . answers the first one with the ss T. plays the record. Ss check in pairs. WCFB

Post-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to personalise the lesson and expand on what they've learned

T. asks ss to underline verbs in the above exercise. T. draws a table to elicit positive and negative forms of verbs in the simple present tense. Ss work in groups to fill in the gaps to write about life in their country. T. demonstrates the first one. WCFB

Follow-up activity • To practise the whole learnt vocabs. and grammar in positive and negative form.

Write 3 true sentences about yourself using the ideas discussed or the the ideas below. T. demonstrates the first one. Individual work. Pair check.Tell your partner about your life . T. picks individuals to tell the whole class about their lives.
