Description

In this lesson, students will learn the "expressions with make” and some new vocabularies relate to eco-home. The lesson starts with a brief warm up about eco-home, and then will be followed pre-teaching blocking words. Next, two listening tasks will be played for the students and student will learn new vocabularies. After that, they will read the listening transcript to find the answer of the questions resembling “expressions with make “. Then the matching tasks will be covered and some other “expressions with make” will be taught. Finally, in a controlled practice, student will work on using the “expressions with make” in their sentences.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice words related to eco-house, and also " expressions with make"

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed information which leads the students to learn new words and provides them opportunity to discuss about how they can make improvements in their houses.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

teacher will show a slide to introduce the topic " eco-home". during the pre-teaching vocabularies, the blocking words will be taught.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students will listen to a conversation and then will do two listening tasks ( Gist and detail).

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

the students have to look at the transcript and answer the questions relate to " expressions with make". At this point, teacher focus their attention on it and will start to work on the vocabulary section.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

the meaning and pronunciations of the new words in listening will be taught. teacher will pronounce the words student may have problem with their pronunciation and do drilling. the meaning of some expressions in the listening will be taught. the teacher will make it clear for students that " make" has a huge range of meaning and can be used in different expression. the meaning of some expression with make in the listening section and new expressions will be covered.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

students will do a matching task relates to " expressions with make" individually. then they share their ideas in pair. then teacher will go for feedback and check their understanding. finally, student will discuss the questions in pair and they have to make use of " expressions with make" in their discussion.
