To provide clarification, review and practice of Political terms in the context of Women in politics
Procedure (45-56 minutes)
The lesson is about women in politics so i will show pictures of women politicians (slide 1) and ask the learners who are they? and what's in common between all these people trying to elicit the concept from the learners. as a warm up for vocabularies and clearing the context i will write or show the questions in straightforward upper- intermediate course book ex 1, and ask the learners to work in pairs and share their ideas about the questions in the classroom.
I will give the learners a text about election (Straightforward, upper-intermediate, course book ,page 58, ex2 ), there are some words/phrases in highlighted in the text. i will separate the class into two groups and give each group some pieces of papers, one group has the Word/phrases that are highlighted in the text and the other group has the definition of those words. I will ask the learners to stand up and find their match and sit beside their pair, as a feedback i will give the learners an answer key ( Handout 1).I will show questions in (Straightforward, upper-intermediate, course book ,page 58, ex3) and ask the students to work in pairs and answer the questions and share in the classroom.
I will show the questions (Straightforward, Upper- intermediate course book, Listening ex.1) on the board and ask the students to listen to the listening (1.35) about women in politics and answer the questions in pairs.
I will give each student a handout (Straightforward upper-intermediate course book, listening ex4) and ask them to match the opinions a-g to the speakers, 1 or 2. I will play the "listening 1.36" which is the second part of the programme. I will play the recording again and ask the students to check their answers with the record and show an answer key on the board.
I will ask students which speaker in previous recording they sympathize more and why?
