Description

-In this lesson ,Students will learn about the use of some expressions as a functionnal language in the context of complaining and giving advices and suggestions. I will introduce the Target language with a practised and produce activities .

Materials

Abc Handout ( English unlimited coursebook) dialogue + matching activity

Main Aims

  • -To provide learners the Functional language for complaining and giving advice and suggestions. by the end of the class , students will be able to produce the language for complaining and giving advices and suggestions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide a speaking activity for learner's to check their understanding of the language and be able to use is in the production stage.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-In the first part of my lesson , I will display a picture of a man who's using a computer, this man also looks angry because his internet connection stopped working. I will put the topic in context by showing them that this man is complaining. then Ask CCQ's: can you have a look at the picture ? is the man happy or angry ? what could be wrong with him ? does it happen to you ? what do you do when your internet stop working ?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-In this part , I will display slides about people who are complaining. then do some eliciting . for each complain , there will be an expression for giving advices or suggestions. the aim of this activity is to get them familiar with the Target language. Ask CCQ's

Highlighting (2-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

-for highlighting the target language , I will go over each expression at a time , in a way to work on the pronounciation , the stress and finally drill. in this part , I will check their meaning of the language and show the form . CCQ's , Pronounciation and drilling.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-This procedure will get the learner's to know the proper pronunciation for each verb : then I will show them the form of these suggestions and advices : keeps going - considered getting- think about turning it etc . CCQ's and drilling.

Controlled Practice (7-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

at this stage of my lesson , I will provide the learner's with a gap filling activity in which they have to read the conversation of Vishal and Nicky ,then fill in the blanks with the correct expressions. give hand out , ICQ give them sometime to complete the task then ask them to check their answers. give feedback.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

it will be a matching activity . in the same context of complaining about internet , I will ask them to match each verb with the right sentence.( in the context of giving advices and solutions) CCQ's , compare their answers in Pairs then give feedback

Free Practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

This activity consists of producing the language , I will give each one of them a paper then ask them to write their complain , I will ask them to stand all together and to talk with their classmates about their complains and the others have to give them suggestions using new vocabulary.
