In this lesson, the students are going to practice their listening in the context of a compromise ( fare solution, a solution all agrees with ).First, i am going to brainstorm about the topic with a short story of mine as warmer, Then I am going to listen one and discuss. Then I going to more specific listening while the Ss are listening. Finally, i am going to ask them questions to speak about.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about Compromise in the context of agreements of some solutions

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a Free Speaking practice

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context , engage students and activate Schemata

I am going to tell the students a short story to elicit their answers. I am going to use some keywords to explain the topic and set a context. I will ask some questions and check their understanding CCQs.

Pre-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I am going to ask some question so Ss should elicit the blocking words. I am going to give the students some keywords and some sentences. I am going to highlight and drill the target vocabulary. -compromise -can't stand -rota -lecture - stressed

While-Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

I am going to hand them out a picture p.74 - 2-3 I am going to give instructions and ask them to write the names on the pictures. I am going to play the track 2.33 and give them time to discuss. I am going to monitor and give WCFB.

While-Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

I am going to hand them out a task or more detailed information p.74 - b3. I am going to play the track 2.33 for the 2nd time. I am going to give them time to work in pairs and answer the questions I am going to monitor and WCFB correction.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I am going to give them a task p.74 - 6. for speaking. I am going to hand them out the task and ask and some instructions. I am going to ICQs and give them time to prepare before speaking. I am going to correct them and WCFB
