Description

In this session students will be familiar with the misunderstanding of different cultures and they will also be familiar with what would contribute to a misunderstanding. This lesson will be an introduction to what they will be able to produce in their speaking part which is the exercise after this listening. In addition to that they will have a writing part after this listening that is context related so it will be so useful for them to know what they should write in a letter in order to explain the misunderstanding.

  • by the end of this lesson students will get familiar with the provided vocabulary they will need in their listening and they will also be able to communicate together in the same context

Procedure

Lead in • By the end of this part student had better understand what the lesson is going to be about

Teacher displays a picture on the white board showing him and one of his co-workers that is from another country or has a different culture, The first pictures shows offering something and not accepting it and the second picture shows that the person who offered something is very angry. teacher asks students that why they think this person is angry. And tries lead the students toward the teaching the blocking vocabulary.

presentatin • to get students familiar with the vocabulary they might find difficult

teacher is going to show a set of slides that are almost related together and tries ti elicit the vocabulary if possible otherwise he will give them the vocab they need for their understanding of the course.

while listening • By the end of this task students had better have a general idea of what the task is about

Teacher shows the first slide of the class again and asks students what was going on there to have a quick break from the vocab listening and introduce the topic and then will give them handouts on which students will be asked to listen carefully and to do what they are asked to. After the listening teachers gets students to check their answers with their pair and will give them the answer key on the other part of the handout.

while listening 2 • By the end of this part students will listen carefully to and will answer the questions that challenges their understanding for detail

Students will be given handouts and will be asked to listen to the listening carefully to answer the questions. After they listen to the listening teacher gets them to check their answers with their pair and he will get feedback on the board. he asks students to get to the board and write the correct answers on the word.

while reading 3 • to get students to put the events together and also get them able to work out their understanding

This is what i am going to do based on the level and the understanding of the students. because this is my first experience with these students I am not sure if they can handle a jigsaw puzzle on their own. But if they could i will give them this activity and completely remove the second while reading from my teaching and instead of that i will put more time on post listening activity..

post-listening • By the end if this part students will practice the vocabulary they learnt and the context they got familiar with in the real life example

Students will be asked to discuss with their partners about these misunderstanding happens and will tell their partner if it ever happened to them
