Ask students to notice any other numbers on the board. A couple of ss may point to the date written in the top right corner of the board. Write the date in the middle of the board ' the 25th of October 2017' Encircle 25th, October, and 2017 one by one and elicit the vocabulary for date, month and year. Erase the date except for the word 'year'. Write 1996 1986 on the board Play the recording for just the first one. Ask ss what they heard, they discuss/check in pairs quickly. Underline 1996 and play again to check. Students do the activity and check in pairs. FB by asking students, ask them to come to the board and write. Play audio once more, students repeat Ss listen to the second activity and repeat

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ask 2 students to read the first and second date from the second activity. Write 1840 on the board and then 18 - 40 and highlight that that's how they are said in English. Same with 1996 (19 - 96).
