Description

In this lesson, we are going to learn grammar . Specifically, simple present in form of a questions and negatives. Also, we will focus on free time activities. I will use different activities to let the students discover the grammar by themselves. Phrases that are used to express free time activities will help me in making the grammar more understandable.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of Simple present in the context of some exercises using F2F student book unit 4A "Away from home"

Subsidiary Aims

  • Speaking and listening

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will project some pictures on the board and try to elicit the phrases from the ss. then write it on the board.

Exposure by doing an exercise (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

HO, from F2F student book p: 128. Students match the activities on the pictures with right phrases. I might ask the students to write their answers on the board.

Group exercise (5-7 minutes) • More practice for the phrases. But, without pictures this time!

HO, I will give each group an envelop, inside the envelope there are bunch of cards with pictures and phrases. they have to match them together.

Productive Task(s) (3-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

HO, students will practice speaking by having a conversation in pairs. They will use the "Free time activities" and use it to ask and answer questions.

Receptive task (Listening) (5-7 minutes) • Practice listening

ex 2 F2F students book. I will play the recording and ss will pick the right answer. it is also an opportunity to practice speaking Students can ask each other: what does Paul do in his free time (In case we still have extra time). Listening again to check for the right answers.

Practice (Grammer) simple present in negative. (7-10 minutes) • To practice simple present in negative forms.

HO. I will project the grammar example on the board and try to refer to the grammar with less talking. I will do the first one on the board with my students. Give the handout to do the exercise. For the exercise, I might ask the students to write their answers on the board.
