In this lesson, students learn new vocabulary, time phrases, prepositions (in- at- on) in the context of daily routine. Also, to use the vocabulary in sentences with the present simple (positive and negative) and question form. First I will lead in by acting out my daily routine silently using mimes and sign language. I will sit on the chair pretending that I am sleeping then I get up, have a shower, have a breakfast, work, do the shopping, walk the dog, have dinner, watch TV and read a book) without saying a word to elicit that TL from the students. I will write the correct answers on the boards then, I will show a picture of carton character doing the daily routine that I act it. Then point out and ask the student what do we call it? eliciting the phrase 'Daily routine' from the students. I will turn off the projector, ask the students to do crosswords about the daily routine phrases in pairs then ask them to do a S-S check then give them the answer keys. Moving on, I will use an appropriate song for the topic and the level. We will listen first. ask them what is it about? Then give the lyrics of the song ask the students to fill the gaps with the right words. I will write the answers on the board for a quick check. Another exercise to practice sentences in simple present with negative form and ask the students to work in pairs and practice some speaking (work sheets). I will monitor. Followed up by 'fill the gaps with do, don't or infinitive' in pairs with S-S check asking the students to come up to the board to fill the gaps after projecting the image on the board. commenting on and checking the answers of the students will be done. Finally, time phrases exercise using different prepositions for time (in, on or at). I will project the image of the exercise on the board then ask the students to do it in pairs then check the answers on the board.
Procedure (33-40 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Lead in (10 minutes) set the context: I will begin by acting out my daily routine silently using mimes and sign language to elicit that TL from the students. I will write the correct answers on the boards then, I will show a picture of carton character doing the daily routine that I act it.
Controlled Practice (25-30 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
(10 mins) I will give them crosswords sheets and they have it to fill it with the right daily routine phrases.
They will work in pairs, (5 mins). check in pairs (3 mins).
(5 mins) Worksheet and fill the gaps.
