Description

In this lesson students will learn about typical "free time" with friends vocabulary. Students will discuss what they do alone and what they do with friends, Students will do a brief pre reading activity followed by a listening acitivity about the difference between what men and women talk about and their feelings towards their friends.

Main Aims

  • To introduce Ss to and practice Typical free time vocabulary in the context of friends.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give Ss an opportunity to listen gist information and specific, detailed information. To give Ss speaking practice and a chance to practice the simple present.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

TT A brief introduction and learnıng students names. SS will be shown a pictures and will try to guess the topic of the lesson . Ss will then students will discuss in groups what they do with in their free time. 2 minutes SS will report back what they learned from their group.

Exposure (10-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through images.

Ss will shown a ppt about typical free time vocabulay. ss will practice vocabulay by drilling asking and asnwering questions about the topic.

handout (5-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

students will then given a handout where they match vocabulary to the pictures (ex.1 page 24) ss will peer check their answers. Teacher will double check answers on the board.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • Have students practice target language through discussion

Teacher will check students meaning of the word alone with images. Then students will discuss in pairs the questions on page 24 ex 2 and then ss will tell their partners answers to the class.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Listening Ex 1 page 24 Pre -listening Ss will read a short text before listening to the activity. 3 minutes teacher will ask questions about the text. 2 minutes Ss will then listen to a conversation and tick the words they hear in a the table. Ss will peer check answers.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • listening to free time vocabulary context friends

page 25 ex 3 listening Ss will listen to the activity again and tick if the sentences are about men or women. SS will then discuss in groups 5 things men usually do and 5 things only men usually do. teacher will elicit answers from students.
