Description

in this lesson, Ss will learn some new vocabularies related to seasons and free time activities. vocabularies will be taught by pictures related to them and PPP method.after giving vocabularies and practicing and drilling ,there is a listening with completing the chart questions.at the end, I like +v+ing will be practiced through extracted sentences of the listening and the final activity is personalizing.

Abc match the picture and words hand out
Abc months of the year hand out
Abc power point pictures

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, my students will be able to have a brief chat about their free time and their free activities. they will also be able to express their preferences.

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, my students will learn some phrases and words related to free time activities.first controlled activity that will be covered is matching pictures and new words. then a chart will be completed by listening and at the end, all the words will be practiced by a game.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • to introduce the topic of the lesson to the Ss

T asks the Ss about their birthday. when is your birthday? some pictures of seasons appear on the board, their names will be elicited. pronunciation/phonetic/stress of the words will be written and at the end, T drills the words. T asks again the question but in a different way. which season is your birthday in?

Controlled practice/ group work (8-10 minutes) • Ss put all the things hey know about season and months into pracice.

pictures of 4 seasons are on the board and Ss are given some papers with names of the months on them . they are divided into 2 groups and they should stick the months of each season beside it in order.

Teaching new vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of new vocabularies in the target language

pictures of new vocabularies will be shown on the board and T elicits the words. Pronunciation /stress/ phonetic of the words will be written and at the end all the words together will be drilled.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice.

Ss will be divided into 2 groups and some pictures and words related to them will be given to each group . they have 2 minutes to organize them on the ground. groups check activity of each other. T gives FB.

Controlled Practice/listening (6-10 minutes) • to provide Ss a more challenging step and engage the learning procedure of words with listening.

Ss listen to the audio and fill the chart . pair check T shows pictures related to the listening and asks Ss to listen again and check their answers. Ss come to the board and circle the true answers. T will extract some sentences of listening and after eliciting the necessary information like: what kind of verb do we use after like ing or to? Ss wil repeat selected sentences.

Free Practice (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

4 chairs will be put with their backs on the board and Ss that sit on them will not be able to see the board, their partners should tell them what is on the board and they should write them. for each pair there is a different picture with an incomplete sentence that the students that can see them should complete the sentences and tell them to their partners to write them. Ss will check their friends papers. T will give feedback on the sentences that Ss wrote on the papers.
