Main Aims

  • • By the end of the lesson students will learn more about recommendations.they will be clear in giving their own perspectives
  • • To provide practice and clarification
  • To provide vocabulary/expressions for recommending in the context of article they read

Subsidiary Aims

  • • Students will be able to speak English in fluency.


Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and get them engage

Ask students to evaluate the places they know.What do you recommend them. make pairs for them.Elicit some answers from the class.write few of them on board.

Language Analysis: (10-12 minutes) • To get them more aware of using quite and that they got some clear point of view.

Ask students to find the expressions used for recommending things. Elicit answers and highlight for them. Ask them to look at ex2 and answer the questions.Get them to check with each other in pairs. Give feedback.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • This will help students to be on track.

Have them look at the expressions in ex 3a and explain that they are used for giving recommendations. Draw students attention to the sentences on the board those they made about IH/Ferries in Izmir etc.Get them to rewrite these sentences in ex3a.Tell them to complete ex3b as well. Monitor and help them if they needed.Ask students to compare their answers with eachother in pairs and report to the class.

Freer Practice (9-11 minutes) • speaking

Nominate students A-B-C-D.Give a topic from ex4 to each letter.For example,As-physical exercise.Get them to work individualyy first and then ask them to give their recommendations to others.Set a time limit. Then have all students with the same letter to come together and share ideas. Monitor them and mark down the problems. Give delayed feedback at the end.
