In this session SS will recognize colours, practice vocabulary, follow directions and practice their listening skills.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of colour words in the context of the story and games.

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson ss will have practiced speaking and listening for specific information in the context of describing colours in the story.

Procedure

Stage 1 (3-5 minutes) • Greetings, introducing each other

Greet the children Introduce yourself and the hand puppet lion Ask them if they remember any of the names

Stage 2 (3-5 minutes) • for ss to notice the colourful clothes that T is wearing

Ask ss what they see about your clothes Go around the ss and notice the colours they are wearing

Stage 3 (8-10 minutes) • Listen to the story

Show ss the colourless picture of the book and ask them how they like it Put on the story cards while listening to the story of Minigon and colours After the story finishes, ask ss if they could sequence the story

Stage 4 (5-8 minutes) • Ask ss if they know rainbow and what colours rainbow have

Using the CD, play rainbow song, sing with ss Give out the rainbow colouring sheet to ss to colour

Stage 5 (3-5 minutes) • Find the colours on the wall

Ask ss to find the flash cards that are on the walls such as if you are wearing blue, go and find the blue card if you are a girl and wearing green go and find the green card

Stage 6 (5-7 minutes) • Group work

Introduce the memory game Explain how is played, the rules Have two groups SS play memory game using colour words

Stage 7 (5-7 minutes) • Listen to the story and give direction to each other

Read the "Go Away Big Green Monster" book to ss Explain to ss that they are going to draw a monster Demo with the lion puppet Let ss get into pairs SS tell each other how to draw their monster Say good bye and let ss take their work with them
