Abc Gap - fill exercise on the WB

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of the present progressive in the context of neighbors

Subsidiary Aims

  • To set the context for the grammar lesson through listening in the context of neighbors

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher talks about an annoying neighbor of hers. And then asks the students to talk in pairs about any annoying neighbors they have and talk about some of the problems people could face with their neighbors. And then a couple of students will talk about their topics.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

students will look at a group of pictures for a minute, talk about it, and then they will listen to an audio and explain the pictures through what they've heard. after that they'll do a pair check, then WCFB

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

after the listening, the teacher will out the marker sentences on the board and elicit then clarify the target language for the students (present progressive). Then she will highlight the intonation, pronunciation, and drill.

Controlled Practice #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

After the language clarification, the students will hear the audio again and have a dialogue gap fill in front of them. They will work in pairs to complete it. a few students will get on the board and write down the answers. And then a WCFB will be done

Semi-Controlled Practice (7-10 minutes) • To provide further grammar practice for the learners

The teacher will have the board divided into 2 parts for team A and B, put some exercises and nominate one student from each team to write answers on the board. The other members of the team have to tell him the right answer. The team who finishes everything correctly wins. And then there will be a group feedback

Freer Practice (5-10 minutes) • To provide further grammar practice for the learners in a freer way for students

teacher asks every student to close their eyes and imagine they're in a place and what they're doing and with who. after one minute of thinking they will talk to their partner about where they are and what they did. then there will be a WCFB

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

After the activity is done, there will be a delayed error feedback
