Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of the dates in the context of the new year and birthdays.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of birthdays and dates in general

Procedure

Lead in (4-4 minutes) • To generate interest in the global context of the lesson

Project a video about new year. Ask students what is this day? And in which month, so as to elicit the month 'December'

Building context (5-5 minutes) • To narrow the context to a more specific area and continue to generate interest while establishing a clear and specific context for the language to arise out of

Project some pictures of different special days in Turkey, elicit the days but most importantly elicit the dates of these days.

Presentation (10-10 minutes) • To clarify meaning so learners understand it. To clarify the pronunciation sp learners know how to say it. To clarify form so that learners know how to construct it.

Divide the class into two groups and also ask them to stick the months in order. Once they finish, they will listen and repeat. After I will break down the meaning, the form and the pronunciation of the whole function. ( on May 23rd)

Practice (15-15 minutes) • To provide controlled written and oral practice focused on using the target language accurately

Students work in pairs, and match the numbers and drill Students work alone listen and number the date in the order they hear them. They will listen again to drill. Students will be regrouped and write the dates numbers in words and drill. I will bring a calendar and provide the students' fluency concerning dates.

Production (10-10 minutes) • To provide freer oral practice focused on using the target language more fluently.

Students will mingle and tell everyone about the date of their birthday and what do they usually do, following an example written in the board.
