  • To provide clarification and practice of geography in the context of different countries

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

For warm-up, T will start asking them if they like to travel or not? Have they been to any of them? which countries do they like most?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T will show them some pictures and in order to unblock vocabulary first she will try to elicit the meaning by setting up the context and let them guess. then she will give them more detailed clarification like their spellings, pronunciation and meanings. She will do this by MFP and CCQs to make sure they learned them. The sts will have matching activity to practice the use of vocabulary in context

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Sts will then have gist listening. T will ask them they are listening to a teacher who is teaching. She will ask them to tell which course is she teaching. Question will be written on the board. and audio will be played once.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

For more detailed listening 5 questions will be written on the board and they will be asked to listen and find the answer to those questions. After they listened once, they will be given some time to check with their partners. Audio file will be played once again and they will check their answers again and finally the teacher will write their answers on the board..

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In order for the sts to produce language they will have speaking practice at the end to use what they learned in this lesson. A specific country will be given to sts not necessarily from those countries that they had learned in audio. They will be asked to use their internet and talk about whatever they found in terms of the country population or any other geographic knowledge they found in their group. T will monitor them while the sts are doing the activity and take notes. Feedback and error correction will be done at the end.
