Description

In this lesson, Ss will practicing listening in the context of anniversary. The listen will start with talking about marriage and wedding, then learning some vocabulary, and then the listening tasks and finally, speaking practice.

Materials

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, learners will have practiced their listening for gist and for specific infromation in the context of anniversary.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide speaking fluency in the context of anniversary

Procedure

lead in (1-3 minutes) • To generate interest in the topic

Tell the Ss that I am going to get married soon.

Pre-teach vocabulary (5-10 minutes) • To unblock key lexis needed to help students understand the text

Show the Ss a wedding photos and try to elicit the words from the Ss. After that, show Ss the pronunciation of the words and drill them, then give them a matching exercise, then PW check and finally FB.

Listening for gist (5-7 minutes) • To encourage learners to listen for gist understanding

Show the Ss two photos for wedding from two different countries and try to elicit some infromation about the photos, then ask them to listen and choose the suitable photo for the listening task. After that, Ss listen, then divide them into groups to discuss together the answer. Finally, get the FB.

Listening for specific info (10-15 minutes) • To practice listening for specific informarion

Give instructions for the exercises, then Ss listen. First, choose the right answer exercise let the Ss listen to the audio untill they get three answers , then let them listen again to get the rest of the answers. Speaking task (5-10 minutes) • To allow an opportunity to react to the text

Handle out the Ho to Ss, then ask them to ask each other about weddings in their home towns, then FB and finally, error correction.
