In this lesson Ss will expand on the topic of dream house and then they will learn blocking vocabulary and read questions before listening the task. after completing listening tasks related to dream house. Ss will be asked to discuss their Ideal house .

Main Aims

  • To give Ss practice in listening for gist and detail in the context of Ideal home.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give Ss clarification of vocabulary in the context of Ideal home.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To generate interest in the theme of the lesson.

T asks Ss questions related to context of lesson after showing pictures and asks Ss to come up with ideas about the photos in pairs. T facilitate a WC discussion , asking Ss to share their ideas.

Pre-teach vocabulary (7-8 minutes) • To clarify the blocking vocabulary to help Ss comprehend the listening

T ask Ss to make three groups and gives Ss matching handout and asks them to complete the exercise and check in pairs then gives them answer key to check their answers in order to elicits and teaches the MFP of some vocabularies on the board. After drilling the words T uses CCQs to check their understanding of the vocabulary.

listening for gist (7-8 minutes) • To comprehend the listening as a whole

First, Ss will read the question individually and then, they will listen to text and answer questions about the text individually then in pairs . WCF and then T gives them answer key to check.

Listening for detail (10-12 minutes) • To practice listening for detailed comprehension,

First, T gives Ss handout to read the task which includes the T/F exercise ,asking for detailed information and .T asks Ss to listen to the recording and choose the appropriate option according to the listening. Ss check answers in pairs. WCF .Then T gives HO to Ss to check their answer.

speaking task (10-12 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to personalise the topic

T asks students to discuss a question which is written on the board then share some ideas first in two groups then T prompts the WC with another question.
