Description

The aim of this lesson is to teach the first conditional type. The teacher intends to do TTT. She is going to start by a test to elicit both the topic and sts level. Accordingly, she will either have teaching or practice activity.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

For lead-in T will demonstrate a context to see if she can elicit the topic. She will show some pictures of a student who is looking at weather forecast program on his cell phone. If it ........................., I .....................................

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Teacher will give a test to students. First they will be asked to do it alone. and then they will do peer-checking.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

after doing the test the students will be asked to check each others answers and put on the board the wrong ones. based upon their mistakes T will start teaching and clarifying the point. CCQs will be included like: Is this situation possible? Does this mean that this situation is100% guaranteed? Can this happen? some activities will be done at this stage for more practice. like matching excercise, substitution drills, etc.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T will test students again to see if they understood their mistakes or not,

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

A clip will be played to sts to see some superstitions with if........ ; these superstitions are from different countries, they will be asked to work in groups and find as many superstitions as they have in Turkey. Then groups will share their answers to the class. Doing chain drills is also an alternative.
