Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows the pictures of well known artists and questions what's common about them.

Pre-Reading (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

a) T divides the students into pairs and asks them to discuss the questions regarding creativity.( Ex. 10) b) T asks the ss to read the first paragraph of the article and find which questions are mentioned there (Ex. 11a). Ss do this task individually. T gives 2 minutes to find the answers. Ss compare their results. T tells the correct answers.

While-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist reading

T divides the class into three groups. T instructs the Ss to read the article very quickly in 2 minutes and find the answers to Ex. 11b where they have to match the headings with the correct paragraph. T gives the hint that the answer lies in first and last statement of each paragraph. T uses ICQs. T tells the correct answers.

While-Reading (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed reading task

T asks the ss to read the article in detail now and tick the right answer from the multiple choice given. T asks the ss to underline the sentence in the paragraph which gives the answer. After completing the exercise, the ss compare their answers with their friends and later check them from the board.

Post-Reading (13-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

a)T elicits the meanings of a few words that are to be used in the activity. For example, brochures, tetanus, persuade etc. b) T divides the ss into 3 groups. T gives the instructions. All the groups get the same problem. Everybody thinks of a creative solution to the problem for 2 minutes. Then, they share their solutions in the group. Every group gets to nominate one person who tells about the solutions to all the students. The other two groups decide which solution is the best one. T uses ICQs. Read, think, share, explain and decide. After the activity , T shows the solution given in the book. c) T gives the second problem card to all the groups and asks them to find the solution in the same way as the first problem. After the activity, T shows the solution given in the book.
